Well I have been noticing my ride has been a little strange lately mainly on the freeway at around 65-70
What it feels like is a side to side feeling not tank slappers but kind of like riding on a ridge and falling off..well today I was cleaning the wheels and low and behold the damn tires are cupped really strange I know this happens but at 1200 miles on the tires? By the way they are dunlops. Who else makes a good 16 inch white wall tire?
I'm sure I may be corrected but as far as I know there was a recall on those tires for that very reason. I missed the boat on that one because they had my address in their system down wrong so I was never notified of the recall. My front tire was cupped pretty bad and the noise was driving me insane. I put one of the "new improved" Harley Dunlops back on at my expense.

Reason: forgot to add
I had 15000 on my stock dunlop front tire when I changed to a 21" wheel and it still had plenty of tread on it with even wear. I never once checked the air pressure although it was serviced every 2500 miles by the dealer. On a side note, it is filled with nitrogen.
Cupped tires can be caused by ALL of the alignment maladies that are possible on a Harley plus out of balance or a defective tire that isn't true. There are a number of things that need to be checked to figure out the root of the problem. The cause can be from the neck, forks, suspension, front wheel, rear wheel, swingarm... on and on. Shop manauals are the best place to start.
My nephew had a front tire that really cupped bad on his dyna, it was a dunlap also. Whenever you made a right hand turn it felt like it was almost out of control. My take is that it was just a defective tire. Replaced and no more problems
