I remember hearing that they are all chrome and HD paints them as they need to so either way you got a chrome one...lol
If you powder it I hope the guy can hit the color dead on for you but it would look good chrome too. (self professed chrome *****)
This may be true but my black tank is not chrome underneath. I ran into my wood pile at home and where the small dent is the PC split and you can see the bare metal and its not chrome. Might have been true on older bikes and fwiw I vote chrome!
My 05 Standard came with black tank, started to peel lo and behold was chrome underneath.Removed the tank and finished removing all the powdercoat using a razor blade very carefully, took off 99% only black left was on fill neck.
Well hell, chrome it is. Great input guys. Thanks machinistmate, but I want to hold off for a new one or I will pull mine and see if I can get the silver off. If not I will either get a price on a re chrome job or I will just order a new one out right. I have never heard of a 2000 up tank failing, so if I go new it will probably be aftermarket.
Soft 02, I thought about round, but then I need new lines as well. So stock it is. Midgard, I can tell that chrome ain't your thing. I would never put a chrome tank on a super slick, blacked out ride like yours either. Thanks for all the great input everybody,
From the pic it looks chrome anyway. I like it. So get a new chrome tank.
If you got the cash have the old one PCed for later. Silvers a tough color to match I'm told.

I thought the same thing. It looks chrome anyway, and will not scratch again.
