Default Heritage handle question

I'm looking at putting some new bars on this winter and I have a question for the "seasoned" handlebar swappers out there. From what I understand, the bars on my 05 have a 7" rise and a (factory) 13" pullback. I don't like much if any pullback on my bars so I roll them forward to be even with the forks. Please correct me if I'm not reading pullback correctly. Anyway, I want some 1 1/4" bars that I can internally wire. How high can I go without changing stock cables and wiring? I'm not looking at getting giant apes or anything, but I would like to go somewhere in the 10-14" range depending on the bars.

I don't mind swapping cables and wiring, but if I don't have to, I'm not going to. I already have some pretty nice braided cables on there. Any help is appreciated.

I've changed the bars on an 06 Heritage and on my current 00 Heritage. Stock bars same as your 05 I believe. I put on what are now the stock Heritage bars, which I think are 10 inch mini apes. I didn't have to change any wiring or cables, tho the brake line was really close. Any taller and you'd likely need to extend that and the wires, but the throttle and clutch cables seemed to have some extra reach.
Not the bars you have in mind, but that's an idea of how high you can go without messing with anything else.

Aren't the new ones a 13" rise? I know I have a little wiggle room but I was wondering if anyone else knew off hand. I really want a fatter bar and internal wiring. Don't care if it goes very high. Was looking at some Carlinis. May even go 1.5" if I can find the right ones.

10's may work. Dont think 12's would. Not worth installing 10's imo. Go 14"s at least. I have Heritage bars, same as your 05 bars, and they measure very close to 12" apes at the grips. Thats because apes bar ends turn down, Heritage bar ends turn up - buckhorn style.

I think stock heritage bar cables/wires are pretty much maxed out as it is. You might get an inch or two, but that's it.

Quick check, just unbolt your handlebars at the risers and see how high you can raise the whole thing (and turn the fork). Might need a helper.

Looking at some 1.5 inch 13s that may be the middle ground. Like I said, I'm looking more to hide the wires and get thicker bars than have a place to do pull ups.

I'll probably wind up with 18" gangster apes. Ha ha

Excellent suggestion. I'll try this.

+ 1 on these !!!
Yours look like the stk bars off a 90's Dyna Wide Glide.
I've had em all. Fatboy/RK bars.(Started w/those) DWG bars,
Mid rise Flanders, 518's now 503's. They're ok I guess. I AM NOT
changing them again. (Wife's 03 has 508 rotto tiller bars)
But the best ones (honestly) were the stock bars off my buddies
96 DWG. I didn't have them adj quite right.
But (as I've stated before)
I would have saved myself HUNDREDS of dollars (literally)
sticking w/those. They were the best overall.
The one's on the 09's and newer are just a tad too tall(11"). They're perfect
for a Roadking which sits you 2" higher.

The newer bars on the Heritages are 10" I'm pretty sure. Running the wires inside i think you may only be able to go 10s. Maybe 12" if you leave the wires outside. I have read that a few put 12" apes on and was okay, but fairly sure they did not run the wires internally. I would for sure try and make sure they'll work before you go and start the swap. Could save a lot of *** pain. Good luck.

This is why I don't want to go too high. I still want to be able to take long trips and superman bars ain't comfortable for all day rides. I don't want to be higher than my shoulders. I HATE seeing wires so that's my main motivation.
