Default Internal fuel tank components

Ok, my 06 fatboy's paint is starting to show its age, this winter I am planning on giving her a makover. Since my fuel tank has no imperfections I am going to reuse it, so I have to strip out all the internals to send it to the painter. My question is: Should I keep that assembly submerged in fuel for the wait time ( could be 6 - 8 weeks by the time I have it reassembled ) or would it matter?

Drain it and leave the fuel pump and such inside the tank. My painter has no problem with this kind of stuff.

Yep... he should tape up all holes, so this is good. No sense in taking apart what doesn't need to be.

I am sure if he does a really good job taping everything up it should be no problem but I would remove it. Just the thought of all the dust and crap that could get into the pump filter etc.
