That is to put a lock on so no one can steal you saddle bags.

That looks like a hard bag, which is not stock for Heritage. Some sort of aftermarket convenience hook.

Well, it may be aftermarket. This bike has aftermarket fenders (clean simple lines with no extra lights or mounts for turn signals on the rear fender) and it looks to me like the previous owner ran it without the bags because the hardware (bolts and nuts) used to mount the bags looks like whatever they had laying around. I've replaced all of that now. The turn signals and spotlights were removed and it didn't have engine guards.

It looks to me like the clips might be used to hold some soft luggage in the bags or something since the clips are inside of the saddle bags when mounted.

As a side note, I found some HD spot lights at a swap meet for 35 bucks so I have the spotlights now but still no turn signals. In fact, I bought all the FLSTC turn signal hardware at the same metrolina swap meet only to discover that they will only work on the stock rear fender. Doh!!

This is my bike. You'll notice no turn signals. This was veterans day. The PGR was doing a veterans day ceremony.

From what I can tell from the pic (which is very poor) is nothing.

That is not anything like my mounting Bolts and Ur pic seems like it can't be of the inside of the bags.

The angle of U pic shows something that's shinny, not the inside of the leather bags..
Plus Ur explanation of how they're put on is confusing to me.

All I know is on my 07 I don't have anything that looks like Ur bike does.

The bags have a matching hole in the inside of them that slides over the clip and the hasp it's riding in. It wasn't obvious that the bags were removed from the bike. Sorry bout that.
