Default Heritage Classic Upgrades

OK, am planning some serious upgrades for my Heritage Classic next year. I was considering upgrading to a Road King or Street Glide but just love the feel of my Heritage. Rode a buddy's Road Glide at DelMarVa this year and liked it but not as much as my Heritage.

Mine is an 09 and am thinking of the following.

For Long Trips
1: is there a removable faring that I can get to put on and take off relatively easily?
2: want to be able to put on bags and take off easily and need touring bag - any suggestions?
3: Best seat for touring?
4: Cruise Control ideas.

For Short Hops
1: Want to be able to lower bike for look of it on short hops. Ideas on options for lowering for short hops and more comfort for long trips?
2: Removable fariing and bag equipment?
3: Lower profile seat that sits me further "in" bike for short hops.

General:
1: Best handle bars that are comfortable for both types of riding. Obviously won't switch these out LOL.
2: Backrest with seat?
3: What can I do to put my license plate below my tail light.

Live in Southeast Texas now so ride year round - Which we love.

I know alot of questions but have ridden stock for 3 years and have 25k miles. Ready to do some wrenching and make her More perfect

Regarding the backrest, I got this one about a year ago. Best $99 I've ever spent on my bike.

I am using a woodys fairing on my fatboy. It uses stock windshield location but changes the rubber mounts our for machined metal ones. (http://www.woodysfairings.com/). For the seat I am running a mustang vintage wide touring seat with a removable backrest (http://www.mustangseats.com/Product/...uds-No-Conchos). I have done many 3k plus trips with it and have had no issues. Did 1000 in one day on my way to sturgis last year and was still good to go. Suspension I am running the shotgun shock. The thing I really like about the shock is how easy it is to adjust for when the wife comes with on a trip. I am running Roadking custom saddlebags on these mounts (http://www.cavalryfiberglass.com/sto...products_id=34). They are not quick to take off and to be honest I find it really nice to have storage even around town. Cant say how many times the sweatshirt or rain gear came in handy. I also have a detachable passenger backrest that I put my t-bag on for long trips. Bars I am running 12 inch apes. Like I said I have done a lot of 3k plus trips two of them two up. We both feel great after a days ride. With the t-bag and RK custom bags I can hold more than the guys with the ultras (when they dont use their tour pack top mount bags). I only run the fairing when cold or long trip. I change the mustang out for a LePera Maverick for around town. Le me know if you have any other questions. Here is a link to pics of mine

Ditto on the grasshopper backrest. Wife has it on her heritage and loves it.
Stock seat is probably the most comfortable seat you can get. I'd recommend highway pegs to put your feet out, rather than a seat to push you back.
Why a fairing? You already have a removable windshield?
Stock bars are pretty good.... just a matter if you want to go lower or higher.

I put the soft brake plate relocation on my heritage. It works great without spending much money and easy to install.

I have the Harley quick detach bags, I have Harley quick detach windshields and the answer to all riding and comfort issues is by far the Shotgun shock. Adjust it as you see fit on the fly. Putting the Shotgun on your bike is just like going out and buying a new bike. You can have a new bike every time you reach down and adjust your air.

Tbonetony beat me to it about the Shotgun shock. The best mod you can do.

I ordered the Grasshopper drivers backrest for my Heritage Softail. I didn't like it at all. Gave me no support, bends backwards under hardly any pressure.

Sending it for a refund and ordering a Protac backrest.

Just thought I'd tell anyone so they are informed about the grasshopper before ordering.

Little Bear.
