Well it starting to get cold here in North Dakota, so I just put the bike up for the winter. Now its time to start a little wrenching on the XBones.
For me I am planning a couple things that I feel will make a big difference in appearance and ride.
1- Fatboy rear fender swap. Im not a big fan of the bobtail type fender. So after some ebaying and craigslist searching I have a new rear fender and tailite assembly for $60. I have already samdblasted the fender and ordered the supports. I plan to have the fender painted to match my tank.
2- Shotgun shock. I lowered the bike this summer and it looks cool, but it rides so/so. Im definately going to get a shotgun this winter. Been saving for a while.
3- A few minor engine covers in black. Just slowly working to blackout the bike.
Good winter project! I'm doing the exhaust, intake and power commander on my bones over the winter. I was also thinking about the fat boy fender, I'll have to look around for one.
I got most of my winter mods done already and its not even winter yet LOL. V & H Pipes, Fuel moto AC, Power vision tuner, swingarm bag, windshield. Next up is a set of 4" pullback risers and a new solo seat.
Trivial bits & bobs for me. Just got my 2012 Deluxe back with Burly beach bars fitted - absolutely stunning to look at and use. I was going to follow on with a paint job, but then I thought what the hell, I bought the bike because I liked the colours in the first place! I can live with parking alongside a couple of others at the dealership! Looking forward to fitting Panhead (Red oval) tank badges instead - they'll make it a little more distinctive. My nose is firmly in the chrome books - no doubt something will materialise before March/April! Brrrr!
20K service. I'm over 23K and finally got around to doing some. I changed the oils and filter and checked my belt and primary chain tension, etc. and I just got in some new brake pads. My rear was looking pretty thin so I'm going to change both - EBC Kevler pads cost me $10 a pair on Ebay. Still need to change my fork oil. Just got new tires in about August.
Other than that, not much. I want to get a trunk to go on my detachable trunk rack.
Ordered the Shotgun shock, should be here next week. Then pipes and tuner. Oh and I guess I should get a new back tire. Then we will see what else the funds allow.
