just happened to see a bike that was for sale today a 2005 Fatboy SE that was OMG gorgeous, 1200 miles, full of shiny chrome extras, asking $14k but it's been for sale for ages.
I do NOT need a second bike, have a 12 Heritage but man I was drooling. Sigh.
Fat's where it's at! Everyone needs a second bike.....LOL
uklauren ...... Glad your havin the weather where your at! ... We got it goin on with surfin right now don't need a camper van or bike, half this green and pleasant land is under water just seen a news report about a village down the west country thats now an island and after 2 weeks they have just managed to get rescue boats out to them .... I've seen the news about the weather, my family are in London so it's not been as bad, though I hear it's set to get cold next.
uklauren .... Yeah it's all started to turn around now you know the scene woolly hats scarfes and gloves (fingerless of course) what real bikers wear! .... had an article in the Daily Mail about a week ago .... worst winter weather (cold,Snow) in a hundred years to hit us this year ... So instead of JD and coke and Born to be Wild it's gonna be Hot Chocolate and my toboggan ....

A 7 year old bike that is not even fully broken in can cause you all sorts of issues. That thing has sat more than it ran. If it has not been stored correctly you could be in for all sorts of issues getting it back to working order.
Based on you guy's opinions, I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I paid 10K a month ago for a very clean 2005 Fat Boy (not an SE) with 5K miles. It was at least a local one owner bike, new tires, just serviced, etc.
I have kind of a theory on the resale on these things, and it may be right or wrong but here goes. I think most non-bagger Harleys eventually depreciate down to the 7K to 10K range, depending on miles, condition, originality, etc. They seem to hover in that range for quite a long time, and don't really depreciate downward much more for a long time. I tend to think that as long as you're in the Twin Cam era, a 2006 is only worth more than say a 2002 when it's a nicer, lower mile bike. It could easily go the other way. Most Harleys in this range trade for cash, so year model doesn't seem to be as important as condition.
There are always exceptions and of course my theory could be crap, but it's just an observation.
Think you'll find Fatboys have Classic lines but obviously not to your taste! ..... if the Night Train was such desirable bike with classic lines why ain't it being made now?
