Question Softail Slim, Stage 1 (General Principles)

OK,

after several weeks snooping around on the site, let's see if I'm on the right track.
First off my bike is an HDI Model...

If I want to upgrade the exhaust (irrespective of which set I choose)

I'll need an eliminator plug for the active exhaust.
And a Power Commander/SERT/Whatever

If I change the air-filter...

I'll need an eliminator plug for the active intake.
And a Power Commander/SERT/Whatever.

So if I go completely nuts, I'll have got myself.

  1. A new exhaust system
  2. A new air filter
  3. A Power Commander/SERT/Whatever
  4. Eliminator plugs for the AI & AE systems.
  5. A bike that sounds & runs a whole lot* better
Have I missed anything? I'm compiling my shopping list!!

* Can anyone say how much a 'whole lot' is?

you dont need all that crap in my opinion. Mine runs awesome with v&h and the k&n filter that the rsd air cleaner came with. 12' and up softail modles have different sensors on the exhust that they and the computer recalculate and compensate for the back pressure and everything better than the older modles. It took mine about 3 startups/rides to re-calibrate itsef. The HD tune up at the dealer is pointless, may get better performence as far as power with the power comander but may not be much, and only if u want to spend the money (the mechanic at the dealer said himself).

again my own opinion and those at the harley dealer and after market local dealer i spoke with.
