Default Relocate speedometer/dash/ignition

Has anyone done any relocating or complete removal of dash/ speedometer. I've seen the ignition relocation kit and was wondering if there was anything else that went all the way. I'm just brainstorming of something to do (that does not require large sums of money) with the bike since winter is coming.

I'm assuming the actual mileage on the odometer is stored on the bikes computer since you can change speedometer and it will sync, so does this mean you can run the bike without the dash completely?

right, the mileage is on the computer, so that's no problem..you could get a handlebar mounted one, or some people make one that mounts to the frame, but it's kinda hard to see.. as far as the ignition goes, i think someone once used the ignition from a Rocker, which mounts where our horns(well your horn, i did a coil relocation) mount to.. just keep in mind, you'll need some sort of cover there, because once your take the console off, the fuel pump access plate is sitting there on top of the tank

I'm getting rid of my dash this winter. I picked up a Blackline dash panel to cover the tank access and got a 1.8" dia speedo from Jireh Cycles for $78, 4 micro LED dash indicator lights (2 amber, 1 red, and 1 green) for about $30 on eBay, and a locking toggle switch (for ignition) for about $10 also from eBay. I'm fabricating a plate that will bolt to the rear two rocker cover bolts and will put everything right behind the air cleaner between my leg and the tank. Here are some links to what I've gotten so far:

I'm not sure the mileage is stored in the computer. I took my speedo off about 1 1/2 years ago and recently reconnected it to see what the odometer read - it was the same as when I took it off... 19,182

jreichart, looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I need to add some kind of odometer. Calculating mileage in my head is getting old.

I'll be sure to start a thread when I begin, still waiting on parts to arrive. Got the speedo yesterday, and this thing is tiny!

I believe the cutoff is 2010. 2011 works fine to switch gauges out, as the mileage is in the computer. I did some reading a while back about switching gauges on my 2010, and I would have to send my existing speedometer in (i forget to where), and they would transfer the miles onto the new speedometer. This must be documented properly to maintain the clean title, at least in PA.

This must be what all the ricers do because their bikes are always low mileage and they swear their bikes are better than ours.
Lol

I think that speedometer would be the perfect size to replace the fuel gauge.

I am wanting to do the exact same thing. Not looking to spend a ton of money though. I want to put the ignition where the horn currently is, that should be fairly simple. I've been brainstorming for a couple weeks on how to keep my current speedo and dummy lights. Fabricate a housing maybe? Attach to handlebars? It would be kind of bulky, but I didnt want to run into issues such as mentioned with the mileage, etc. If I could find a speedo/dummy light in one I think that might be the route I take. Here's one from another thread of what a sporty rider did. Looks super cool to me.

oh and jreichart yes please post progress pics as u get it done. very interested to see how yours turns out. I got this idea when I took the dash off to straighten out the rubber liner between it and the tank... i stepped back and said man that looks clean with no dash on there! So I'm amped to find a solution
