Is there a way to reset an ECM to original factory specs?I have a 2006 Heritage Classic bought used. It had Vance and Hines mufflers, but now I have a set of original stock mufflers from a Deluxe. I don´t know if this bike ever had any other upgrades which were removed, plus other things done, like Stage 1 download, remapping, etc. I want to return to the point of origin because the engine does not run as good as I think it should. Will a tuner tell me what is now programmed in the ECM?I don´t want to make any changes until I now what has transpired. Does this make sense? I don´t plan to make any other modifications, I just want it to have the same specs as the day it rolled out of the factory, then I´ll start fresh.
Yes you can flash the ECM back to stock either take it it the dealer and pay them to do it usually about $ 150 or buy a flash tuner like the HD SERT,SESPT, TTS or Power Vision and do it your self. The HD tuners With e software (cd) have various tunes on them and tuners like TTS or the Power Vision have many places or users that can supply you with a copy of their stock MAP. Even by changing the pipes etc back to stock the bike can run better with a MAP different than the stock EPA lean set up
My suggestions call Jamie at Fuel Moto and buy a Power Vision he can then set you up with a base line MAP for your needs and you can either run that , self tune doing data logging or take it to a Dyno
Their was a service notice on 06 bikes to replace 8 degree injectors with 25. The most noticeable symptoms are rough starting or running when cold. May or may not be applicable. You can visually check your injectors.
Thanks. I´ve been contemplating getting a tuner. Will it work on a bike without 02 sensors? The pipes are from a Deluxe, but it is a Classic. The Deluxe pipes had the bungs, but I had to plug them up. The Power Vision sounds great, but if I can´t use all of its capabilities with my setup, what´s the use¿
There are many tuners on the market. Some allow you to re-map the Harley ECM and some mount permanently to, and piggy-back off the ECM. On one of my bikes I use the Vance and Hines Fuel Pack which is a piggy-back device programmable without a separate laptop computer. It's sufficient for stage 1 but not much else.
One system that interest me is the ThunderMax. Google them and check it out. Several of my Bro's are using it. Completely replaces the stock ECM.
