I am looking to buy these wheels off craigslist and the owner says they will fit my 07 Softail Custom. I know my rear stock is 17 x 6 200 and the front is a 21" x 2.19" (correct?).
1. The wheels are an 18" x 6 1/2" 180 wheel and he says they will fit my bike and that I could even put my stock 17" x 6" 200 tire (I just bought new Michellin Commander II) on it and it would fit. How does a 17" tire fit a 18" wheel?
2. The front rim is bent but said I could get a new one (obviously) and that it would fit my 80/90 21" front Michelin Commander also.
I feel stupid but how does a 18" wheel fit a 17" tire and a wheel that has a 120/70 21" tire on it now will fit an 80/90 21" tire?
I love the wheels but don't want to buy something that will just sit in my garage. Also, I am more interested in the back wheel than I am the front (since it is damaged and I already have a front spoke anyway).
There is no way a 17" tire can fit on an 18" rim. It sounds to me like the guy does not know what he is talking about the 18 would probably be an 18x5.5. IF you measure edge of rim to edge of rim it might me 6.25 wide or whatever he says. Find out what size the axles are. I am always weary of people on CL with stuff like that as most will say anything to sell what they have to you.
ANOTHER THING, 05 HAD 3/4" BEARINGS AND 07 1" BEARINGS.

That's what I thought. I had a feeling he was just trying to move them. He said they are 3/4 axle.
Maybe I just need to find a set of mags from HogPro instead. Lol
You are correct in assuming a 17" wheel will not fit an 18" rim. An 18" rim requires an 18" tire. If this guy is telling you a 17" tire will fit an 18" rim, then he obviously has no idea what he is talking about and I wouldn't trust that he is accurate on any other details. Huge red flags on this one, I'd stay away from this deal. The front I'm pretty sure will not fit the stock 21" wheel either. Some others might chime in on this, but I believe a 120 front tire will need at least a 3" rim width.
And looks like I was late to the party, as usual. Damn lack of typing skills!

Yea, not sure if he knows what he is talking about. Maybe he thought I was asking if it would fit my bike with the tires that are already on the wheels....since they come with the deal. Although I specifically asked if the wheels would fit the new Michellins I just bought.
A closer look at my charts reveals that your front wheel has 25mm bearings and the rear has 3/4 bearings. It is a very strange combination.
So the wheels and the tires that are mounted on those should fit, I just wouldnt be able to use my current Michelin Commanders on those specific wheels... correct?
The front wheel outer rim is jacked up and would have to be replaced but man, those 80 spoke wheels look nice.

If you plan to change out your wheels, don't purchase something that you're unsure of. Spend a little extra coin and buy from Hog Pro. I've purchased from them. Quality and customer service were superb.
