Here is my first question: Based on the following pictures, is this set up for a wide tire or is it the stock swing arm with wide fender? If it is the stock swing arm, then whats the deal with all the extra space?
All the "extra space" is because it originally had a final belt drive that was 1.5 inches wide...the frame struts have been cut off and you have bolt on struts with a wide fender. If you offset the transmission/primary you could get an 180 tire on there with that swingarm, if you stay with a chain or go with a 20mm belt. Basically someone started setting it up for a wide tire and didn't finish.

Welcome! You have an FL front end on your bike. Your just missing the nacelle headlight cover. The rear swing arm looks stock. The tire that is mounted is very skinny.
Where's the pics of the springer? Do you plan to put it on your project? Looks like great potential, and I'll be looking forward to watching your build. Have fun!
I have alittle over a grand a month I can spend on this project and a couple hours each night. I started cleaning her real good last night. I cant decide which front end I want to use. I am absolutely in love with the nacelle headlight housing. The springer front also doesn't have provisions for a front brake.
I'm trying to set a budget of $2,500 to $3,000 for this project. There is a pretty. Big swap meet in Kansas city in march. I hope to have it done either by then or get the final parts there. I'm going to be asking lots of questions along to way.
So it looks like I may be able to add a caliper to the springer front end. If that's the case then i will definately go that route. I just need to find the right caliper I guess.
That FLH front end is mounted backwards...and they're factory deraked. Mounted backwards will add rake to your bike. Take a look at the trail to make sure you end up with a good handling set up.
Since it's a softail, you can use a softail (or V-Rod) rear caliper if it's a stock springer. Ends up looking cool because the calipers match.
