Default Oil temp dip stick???????

Will this oil temp dip stick (62896-00B) fit a 2013 fatboy?

I went by the stealer today to buy an oil temp dip stick. I did not want the digital one (too much money). I told the parst dude I wanted the needle one and he stated it would not work on my bike because of the different type of dip stick. Well I did not buy anything. I got home and looked at the 2013 part catalog and it states that part 62896-00B fits 00-later softails.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!!!!!

I searched JP Cycles for "62896-00" and found an aftermarket replacement. The JP dipstick fit models up to 2012. You may simply be in the grey area where catalogs and web sites haven't been correctly updated yet. One sure way to tell is to pull your dip stick and compare it to the one at the dealership.

You'll most likely receive comments stating that this item is a waste of money. I disagree, and so would any other riders that wrench on their engines. I use them in both my bikes and although I don't continuously check the readings, they do provide valuable information. Especially after upgrades which could affect engine temperature.

The HD dipstick should have information within the package relating to checking oil levels. The one I installed in my 02 requires that the oil level be check while the bike is on the kickstand vice upright as stated in the service manual.

I am on my second one...have one "just in case" but the only time I look at it is when I check the oil. One problem I had and have had other people agree...the rubber they use to seal the hole, doesn't last as long as a "regular dipstick"...after a couple of years the rubber gets hard and it starts popping out of the hole...put my original back in...no problem

Can't help ya with fitment. I have one, look at it when I get done with a ride sometimes or on a long rides I might give it a look at lights once in while if the ambient temps are up there. Gives an indication of potential trouble.

Only issue I've noticed is the dial fogs up in the rain, if I wash the bike I put a baggy over it with a rubber band. I have no idea what brand it is.

As said above, more than likely it just not been updated yet.

Might go back to dealer and see if a new 13 cap fits Ur bike off the show room floor if they would let U try that. If so then I'd say Ur good to go with the one on the wall.

I've had two of them non digital.
The first one for some reason cracked the glass cover within the first couple months.
The dealership replaced it for Free..

I've now has this one since 07 and it still works fine..

My # was 62896-008 back in 07 and was $29.99 minus the 15% off.

Exactly my experience.

I looked at it a few times when I first got it but never again. The stoker plugs the hole fine.

I found the rubber to be no problem at all on my Dyna. Mine would get nicked (stolen) way before the rubber wears.
