The RK also comes with a lifetime membership to AARP and you get the senior citizen discount coupon book. When I get old, I'll trade my Softail in on a RK which is the nicest of the baggers IMO.

Joking aside, you will find as many pros and cons for each bike. Test/rent ride them both. The one you enjoy the most is the right bike for you. It's a win/win situation.

I made this same decision this last summer. I was upgrading from a sportster and wanted something that was more comfortable for distance but still a good city bike. I rode both and the Heritage won hands down. In my opinion its a more comfortable bike for my riding style and it looks much better in my opinion. There are also tons more aftermarket accessories for the softail line.

It came down to the fact that the Road king shook the hell out of me at stop lights and at low speed and was top heavy which were both traits I hated about the sportster. The Heritage just seems to balance itself at lights with little to no effort from me. The RK just felt like it always wanted to fall over.

You can comfortably go cross country on the Heritage. This is exactly the bike I was looking for and I have no complaints at all.
