Just signed up to the forums and six months new to riding. I just bought my second Harley, 2013 Softail Slim in Vivd Black. Love the bike, the looks, the ride just everything about it. Wanting to change just a few things though (loving the blacked out look).. Thinking over changing the primary cover but cannot decide if I want to go Wrinkle black or Gloss black. Been trying to find pics of bikes with both to get an idea of the look but cannot seem to find any. Any suggestions or opinions would help.
Currently doing a switch from chrome to wrinkle black on an 06 Heritage Classic, a lot to switch out & it seems to be getting expensive. I'll stockpile the parts & then do the switch all at once, before this spring. Good luck on your switch!
When it comes to art/customizing it is really up to you. Any suggestions I could give would be based on my preference. The safe route would be to go with gloss black but I am not a fan of all black bikes but do what you like and see how it turns out. I am sorry but that's the best advice I can give. Good luck and I hope it turns out the way you want. By the way excellent choice and welcome from Michigan
My last bike was all chrome, everything but the tank..... I opted to get a bike with much less chrome (my Night Train) then swapped out parts / or painted parts as I went. If you take your time and look around enough for parts, you can do it all pretty cheap.
When trying to decide what a part will look like in a particular color, I sometimes cover the part in masking tape then paint over the tape. Doesn't look pretty but it gives me a visual.
One way to visualize mods is to take a trip over to the photoshop thread. Bunch of good peeps over there with some mad skillz. They'll add color, or parts to your ride. Be patient though, some of that stuff takes time and they're doing it for free, so sometimes it's a couple weeks before you see something back. Good luck, and post up pics along the way!
