The opinions above do not reflect the opinions of any Canadians except this wonderful piece of work. Canadians are generally accepting of an individual's right to have whatever opinions of their political leaders as they see fit.

Personally, I don't see why other Canadians really give a **** about who the president of the US really is. While it occasionally does impact us economically, generally the reasons people get all bent out of shape over it have absolutely nothing to do with that. As far as I'm concerned we should all get our own houses in order before worrying about anyone else.

Now, hopefully this hasn't run afoul of the "no political discussions" rule. Hawaii looks amazing and I'm insanely jealous of anyone who gets to spend any length of time there with a motorcycle. Although I'm also jealous of anyone in Arizona, Cali, or any other place where it is reasonably nice year round as well, but Hawaii is no. 1 with (or without as the case may be) bullet.

Thanks.

I don't know how it is in the US, and while I'm not military, I do work for the federal gov't here and get transferred around a fair bit, and I know we have to get all local registration for all our **** whenever we move. We do get reimbursed all our registration costs, but not cost to modify anything to meet local regs. Until this year we at least didn't have to get provincial health coverage as we were covered through the feds, but the economic slash and burn has tossed that on the trash heap and now I have to go line up and waste an afternoon getting a provincial health card, and will have to do it next time they move me to the other side of the country, and again and again and again...

I would presume that if you're not going to an overseas base somewhere you would need to register the plates locally as you are a resident of that state, and will be primarily driving it on the roads of that state, but I'm only guessing.

Years ago when I was active duty Army, I was allowed to maintain my "home" state registration but was forced to get a "state inspection sticker" while detached to an AFB before I could register my motor vehicle on base. Local law enforcement still gave me **** despite the fact I passed state inspection. Three tickets later and several court appearances later, I ended up paying the first ticket though the judge tossed the second two. After that I changed my pipes and avoided that jurisdiction all together. Still can care less about that city.

When I was in Hawaii, I had to get the local inspection sticker before I could register it on post. Bad part is once you go and try to get an inspection and fail, they report you the state. You can't even go to another inspection station and try again.
