I have about 14,000 miles on my Dunlops on a 99 Softail Custom. They look like they will go another 1,000 ok, but I always thought the front should go a little farther than the rear. What do you guys get out of a 21" skinny on the front?
If you are getting 14-15000 miles out of the rear, you are doing well. As far as the front, I have had people tell me that they can go twice as far on a front as a rear. That has never been my experience. My dealer is 100 miles away, so I just get them both done at the same time so I do not have to come back as often.
Yeah, I thought that was pretty good out of the rear. This is my first bike with the skinny 21" on the front, so maybe that is normal. It would probably go farther but has a few places with flat spots, so I will replace them both at the same time also. I usually take them off and take them to the dealer to get them changed. It's only about 20 miles so it saves me some bucks. I think they charged me $20.00 to change them.
I got just over 10k on my back (200mm) and it needs replaced. The center 2" of tread is gone. I could get another 5k out of the front but the tire is original (2008) and while it doesn't have any cracks in it yet, that might change. I'm having them both replaced this spring.

You did good getting 10k out of the 200mm rear tire. I have the same bike as you and my rear dunflop is bald by 8k. They tell me it has something to do with my throttle hand...Anyway, I'm gonna try them Michelin Commander tires next time...supposed to last longer. I did get about 18k out of my stock front tire.
Right now my 06 standard has 10k on the rear and on the front i'm going to replace both at the same time trying avons next heard the michelin commanders 2's are not to go in the rain from guys on the forum here. They say works good on the dry but has a couple guys say the rear has kicked out from them makes me question the tire but avons are on the chopper so
i average about 12k on a rear. i change the front every other time. i bought tire irons, and built a trueing stand. do all my own mounting/ballanceing these days. dealers want too much, buy the time they overcharge for thr tire, labor to mount/ballance. if i bring in a tire to mount/ballance they double the labor charge. 2 harleys, seems like im putting a tire or two on every year or so. not being a tight ***, just being frugal, and spending my saved cash elsewhere. i just bought new dunlops (402) for the ultra,130/16 ft., and 140/16 rear. $255.00 shipped. hard to beat that....steve
If U got 14k out of a LOP then Ur among the VERY-Very FEW that get that many miles on a Softail Rear.
I've gotten an average of 10k on the 4 Lop's 401's I've had. I won't run them till there bald..
I did put a set of the new Mich's Commander II's on at 41k this past summer. so I'll see how they do. Michelin Claims of 50% more wear is yet to be seen.
Also the fronts usually go 2X the miles as the rears.. I've replaced only two fronts, the first at 20k and the second at 41K.
I'm on my 2nd EVO FXSTC and I can't begin to remember how many Dunlop tires over the years, I have never gotten close to your mileage, I get about 8K out of the rear and I always change the front at the same time. I'm more worried about a failure up front then the rear, failure means loss of tracktion as well as loss of air. I'm running my first set of Metzlers and am surprised at how well they are holding up, most of what I've read say they don't do as well as Dunlops but these seem about the same. Much better traction, wet weather, and they do not dive into road snakes at all.
15K, I don't think I'd get that if I pushed the bike that far...LOL
