Johnson, they both have different triple trees than stock on their bikes as well which makes a big difference. Different rakes on them, so they have a greater distance between the upper and lower tree, thus putting the lower tree closer to the fork sliders. That's the difference you're seeing. Look at mine and then their trees again. Their trees are at least an inch or so further apart than stock.
Also, they both are completely slammed in the rear with the shotgun air ride system in all their pics (showoff's haha)
Not sure how much lower you want to go. With my stock trees, the 2" under tubes, the drop in kit with the spacer cut to 2.25", my bottom frame rails are a little less than 4" off the ground.
Cygnus, I see you're not too far from me. I'm glad I saw the thread. I have 2" unders in the mail. I already have the progressive drop in. My question is are you using the stock damper, what oil and level and how's the ride? I have DBI 2" unders and planned on using everything with that, and dropping in the progressive. Was gonna go SE heavy with the oil. Let me know because I love the stance of your front end. Ps I already have the shotgun.

Hey, what are you riding? I used the stock damper with my tubes since i only purchased the 2" under tubes themselves (from a forum member). The DBI comes as a kit with the dampers included, same as stock design though.
I used the SE Heavy oil also. Not sure on the amount though, I believe it was around 12 ounces...stock amount is 16. Much better ride with the heavier oil...no front end dive when braking and it feels much more responsive. It still rides a little rough however so I may drain a little out of it this spring to loosen it up a touch. I did so much to the bike last summer that I didn't feel like messing with it after getting it all put back together. Now I can fine tune it.

95 evo softail custom. Far cry from that now. I have the same bars in chrome. Had 2" drop just not enough so I got the tubes. You ever bottom them out? Don't want to hit bottom, but with the 2" under it should be good im assuming of course
Yeah, your right cygnus... Now that I look at the pics I see what you are talking about... The one with the thinner spokes also has different lowers, that might change it a little too... thanks though, your bike is awesome looking... I need to do the rear too, just not sure yet... I know Im not spending alot though...

When it comes to customizing, there's so much you can do and if you want a certain look, there's usually much more to it than you think...I've found that out the hard way haha. Those guys you mentioned have done tons of mods and they never quit changing things up.
For you and mmarm, you could cut more off of that spacer for the drop in kit to get it lower than mine but I think that'd be pushin it. Much more and you wouldnt have any preload and it would ride sloppy as hell, thats why progressive gives a minimum length. I just wanted it perfectly level so at 2.25" it was where i needed. I haven't bottomed out yet but I gotta figure I've been close. I should measure to see how far the tubes extend into the lowers to get an idea of available travel
Also, I just have the HD lowering kit for the rear. That was already installed when I got the bike. Shotgun shock is in my future though!

Always something when you're changing suspension. I'll prob start off at 2.5 spacer and go from there. Thanks for the specs. I was thinking 10 oz of heavy would be a good mix with that setup. I may even try an intiminator in there as well if I can't get it dialed in.
