Default windvest recommendations?

Hi! I have a '06 Springer Classic and am considering a windvest for the longer rides. Anyone have any experience with them? I am 6'2" and was also wondering if the shorter (14")of the two sizes (14" vs 16") would be sufficient.

Thanks!

Carl

I put the windvest 16" on my deuce. I'm 6' even and the wind buffeting at highway speed rattled my sunglasses so bad that I sent the windshield back. I tried every adjustment possible and could not stop the buffeting.

I put the 16" on my deuce also. It took a lot of adjustments to get it to to the point where it wasn't beating the crap out of my helmet. Once it's "tuned" so to speak, it works ok. It flips the wind up over my head and upper torso, but a lot of wind comes underneath the shield also. I'm wondering if the vest with the flaps that is adverstised here would help at all. The Windvest looks nice on the deuce. I've never seen one on a springer. Get the bigger one if you decide to go this route.

Dont do it!!! I dont think it would look good on the Springer Classic. If you need a windshield just go with the big HD Shield... That would look more appropriate and be more effective...

I installed the 14x14 on my bike, I had one nice day to ride, and I thought it was pretty good. I could take my glasses off at speed.
My bike it lowered 1 3/4" and I had the shield tipped up a little further than parrallel with the forks. I was a pretty happy guy...
I agree with the poster above, this shield is more for an FX Softail, and wouldn't look as good on an FL.

I'm 6' 1" and went with the 16" x 16" smoked screen for my fatboy. only time I get buffeting is if I'm driving with the visor up on my full face - with it down or with an open face no worries

Great for keeping the wind off your chest etc - takes a bit of adjusting but easy done and easy fit

I'm 5'9, and got lucky with the first install (16") on my FXSTC. Top hits me right at mustache height, run it parallel with the forks. Works great! Takes the wind beaten off my cheast and face. I first had iton the sporty, took many adustments to get it right.

I had one on my deluxe for a while. To much wind buffeting no matter how it was adjusted. [8D]

Hey man... I had the HD king-size detachable but on my '06 Springer Classic I got beat to hell from the undercurrent. I ended up going with the windvest. It's not something that will keep all the wind off you, but at least I'm not getting punched around anymore. I'm 5'10" using a deep bucket fat boy model sundowner seat. Here's my post after the install:

Good luck!
