upon installing my new pipes i must have striped the threads out inside the engine how do i fix this and can it be done by me or do i need someone else (shop) to do it
A Timesert would be a better approach; it's a permanent repair. A heli coil might work but you have to worry about it coming out of the thread bore with the next time you remove the pipes. I use red Loctite when installing helicoils to mitigate against that happening but the heat in the cylinder head will melt the Loctite so that won't work very well in that location.
You can try a heli coil and if it does come out, replace it with a Timesert. It goes without saying that be careful drilling out the thread boss, whichever method you choose. It is a tight working area, you want to drill straight and keep the thread bore concentric.
right on now for the next ?.....what would casue the carb to sneez with a smoke like air coming outta the carb i replaced the old carb cover which was completed open with no filter with a cone housing with filter i still have the breathers on it but the breather bolts are smaller then the old ones.....would this casue the engine to puff smoke after start up then die or could it be my carb is flooded...........ive recently redone my whole bike and am working out the kinks
