Default Another new tires post

I have now owned 5 bikes and my deluxe is the first bike I have kept long enough to need new rubber. She definitely needs new rear tire before I start the riding season out and I've got no idea what brand I should go with. I don't want to go to the dealer and have them drop whatever brand they prefer on my ride without knowing the who, what, where, when, and why.
So men, I need your advice please.

1,000 threads on this topic..
I believe the top responses are, in no particular order:

Metzeler ME880's
Avon Venoms
Michelin Commander II's
Pirelli Night Dragons

Then those knucleheads who will be like "put a car tire on the back!"

And those people who will be like "Well, what's wrong with Dunlops?"

And those people who will tell you "Buy the tire, take the wheel off the bike yourself, then find a local place who will switch the tire out for you for like $25"

And then those people who will be like "You don't need tires. Tires are for sissies"

Yeah.

Have run Dunlops, Avons, and now Michellin Commander IIs. I hated the way the Dunlops tracked the grooved pavement. The Avons stuck great on the curves, but didn't last long. Have had the Michellins for a couple of months. Happy with them so far, but can't speak for how many miles I will get.

Bought my tires on line and had an Indy mount and balance them. Personally, I would stay away from the dealer. You are going to get Dunlops and not at a good price.

lol.... that's good stuff... well SGT, you just opened and closed this thread in one post!

Gave all the information needed on brands and then summarized how it will shake down.

Good point on going through dealer. I just put a new rear and the dealer said the AVON 250 rear was 389.00. I pulled it up on ebay and got it shipped to me for a total of $220.00. Then I let them put it on, but I did save a grip load. Look at those numbers... that's significant amount of cash savings for the same exact tire.

Be thankful you have options. Try finding something besides a dunlop front tire for a cross bones.

Since your bike comes with white walls I'd say Metzeler ME880, and then Avon choice wise.

Gotta have those whitewalls. Wouldn't be a deluxe without em imo. I planned on ordering online and having my local guy put them on since I need my brake cylinder drained..fluid rust colored. I do a lot of my own wrenching for a girl ( all 3 holes and even did my own exhaust) but I won't mess with tires or brakes. Too important to me.

Hmmm, wasn't a gal currently on trial for murder described, by her deceased boyfreind, as "the three-hole wonder"?

Not sayin' anything about you, but you might want to think about modifying your talent description in light of current events.
