So men, I need your advice please.
Very subjective subject and as stated, many posts. IMHO the best value in a replacement tire is a Dunlop Elite III. Hard to find any negatives on this tire for a Softail or FL. The Michelin Comander II is my second choice, again much bang for the buck. The Metzler 880 is a good tire, but soft compounded and poor wear on a heavy bike, in comparison to 2 listed prior. www.jakewilson.com or www.denniskirk.com or www.motorcyclesuperstore.com will be the cheapest suppliers. As I read on I see you are interested in WWW's. I dont think the Elite's come in the WWW. I would install the 402's before I would the 880's, but that's my opinion, not trying to wake up the dead horse.

And those people who will tell you "Buy the tire, take the wheel off the bike yourself, then find a local place who will switch the tire out for you for like $25"

That's me, guilty as charged.

Metzeler ME880's
Metzeler just announced the released a new "higher milage" tire than their ME880 line. Its called the ME888 Marathon Ultra. Hogpro, one of our sponsors here on HDForums has some, or I think I saw he has some.

Check it out.

I went through the same indecision as you a few months ago and asked my dealer about all the different brands an options. He gave me the best advise ever by simply saying "it's easy to over think this" I went with the original Dunlops with zero issues.

He gave you good advice. I have to give it to myself each time I'm due for a tire. When I put on another new Dunlop "I cant believe how much better" it is then the last tire I hade on, a Dunlop. A new replacement tire will always feel twice as good as the 1 it replaced, regardless of brand. I dont drink the kool aid. Dunlops are what I grew up with, they are made in America, have never let me setting on the side of the road, and they are priced right.
