First - Has anyone heard of good sale on tires? Or with prices nowadays is that a thing of the past. Second - can I run a Michelin commander II on the back(the tire I need) and a Dunlop Elite 3 on the front? Thanks in advance
This is just not true. Dealers like to sell sets as they make more money and use this as a sales tactic but I have never had an issue as a result of running two different brand tires with different treads and I have done it quite often. Regardless, it is smart to see if the tire you want is also available in the proper size for your front wheel before deciding what to get. I like the Commander II and run it on 2 of my bikes.
