Default Torque Cones

I've had positive results when installing Torque Cones in short drag pipes. Considering testing them in a set of V&H True Duals.

Does anyone have experience using these items in long dual exhaust?

I found some good threads on here last week, try a "torque cone" search

Seems like one of those things where there are an equal number of guys for and against them...motorcycle gurus against rocket scientist against exhaust experts against guys who run them...etc

I thought about it but then I asked myself "if they are so great why don't exhausts come with them already installed?"

I have what most consider pretty long pipes. They are true drags in the sense they are just the factory head pipes with some straight threw fishtail extensions. Many will tell you the cones don't work, and will point you to some article they didn't write. I felt a noticeable improvement when I installed them. A huge improvement....NO. Just a bit better than without them...... yes. Same thing when I put them in my Dyna. IMHO, the bike runs better with torque cone installed than it does when you have a completely open "drag pipe" system.

i contacted cobra the other day and they didn't recommend them for me. i have their speedster duels on my bike. the guy told me that they were more for the evo engines. not sure if it's true. i plan on talking to the tuner at the dealer for his opinion.

Anything really to break up the exhaust pulses will help. My limited (very) knowledge is they work better in some pipes than others.

My pipes came with them installed. They are welded inside im not sure how these pictured are installed. I do know they create back pressure which a baffle or crossover will help create so my understanding is that torque cones are really only needed when your pipes are just too open. Engines need back pressure. Cause I know it will come up I have joker machine chopper pipes.

Torque cones can have a small benefit in some exhaust systems.

Thunder Torque Inserts
(which are Not torque cones) are easier to install, and provide significant low & mid range power increases in almost every free flowing exhaust system made for HD's.

Check out the Dyno charts at the link above.

Make your own "lollipops"; better than torque cones and less than 5 bucks at Lowes...

I put torque comes in several different sets of drag pipes (Samson fishies and a set of Ultima's and felt no difference but much of this depends on your tune.
