Default Modified rear fender to lower?? Fatboy..

Bikes apart still, any thoughts on filling stock strut holes and redrilling to lower the rear fender without using a lowering kit? thought it would have a better ride and still change the look..

I've thought about this myself, very interested to see where this goes.

Are running a solo seat? Lowering just the fender will create issues with a 2up seat to mount properly. Also I think it will look odd with how thick the sides are already, the strut is in the center, redrilling will place it towards the top showing even more of the side

You just won't hit the stops, but the underside of the fender, so watch out for wire harness and bolts up under there.

Lowering (let's say with bolts or collars) won't change your ride during normal conditions, it will just bottom out sooner. So, if you don't bottom out much, the ride won't change.

I would be curious where you go with this also. First thing that comes to mind is the seat. No stock seat (one up or two up would fit). If you lower the fender the seat will no longer fit against it so you will have to have a custom seat pan.

I would imagine by the time you worked all the issues out with a custom seat and the cost of body work and paint (unless you can do this yourself) you will be close to the price of a Shotgun Shock?
