So i upgraded to a 96" S&S motor on my '89 softail and was thinkin on upgrading the old stock clutch, any one out there done this? Notice any difference in engine performance?
Changing the clutch will have no effect on the engine's performance. Change the clutch if your 96 is causing the stock clutch to slip (which I doubt). If it is not slipping save your money for something else.
The theory is that with an upgraded clutch kit, is that it has way more grab and is supposed to have a better transfer of energy from the engine to driveline, especially the old clutches from older big twins, making it feel more peppy, not to mention getting rid of that rock hard clutch lever feel...want to know if this has worked for anyone before i consider dropping $500 or so
I don't think a pro clutch will do much with a 96" engine. It would be like throwing a pro clutch in a stock 96" Harley engine. If you had a 111 or 124 it would be a different story.

Harley 96"s only put out around 70HP, pretty tame compared to the mid 90 horsepower and FP of torque from the S&S motor
