It is easy to make a split in it since it's not like you are trying to make money on a job and get it off but you need to be careful going on since you really do not want to hammer it on.
yes drive it out with a brg race driver comes out fairly easy I recommend bracing the housing on both sides of brg from the inside, on install use anti seize and drive in again supporting the housing close to brg hole
are you talking about the race or the brg itself?

it's like this tho - all i needed was 2 pieces of wood the same thickness.
those were the closest.
it may look a mess, but it worked just fine. pretty standard method of bearing removal/install when it's not in a blind hole.
fwiw to the op. i used 3/8"-16 rod. i would opt for 3/8"-24 if you can find it.
and there's big socket that matches the bearing od pushing on the bearing not seen in pic.
