Hey all .
I just had some 16 " Carlini's installed on my bike . The shop guys took off my windshield to put the apes on . I really like the apes and how they look on the bike without the windshield but I think I will miss it .
It rains a lot here in Alaska and that shield comes in handy .
The guys that have apes do you run with shields and if you do post a picture of your bike .
I will not be able to ride it for myself until mid April maybe a little sooner weather dependent .
i dont have a pic right now but i have the 18"s gangsters and i run my shield when i need to when its friggen cold like now, calling for rain etc.most times people dont even see the windsheild, your not worried what others think are you?,you wont have to miss it use it when you want to,guys put apes on the road glides and the other touring bikes with sheilds and farings all the time just my .02$
I have some of 16" 1.5" Gangsters sitting here on the living room floor. I have 2 windshields that have never been on my bike in the closet. I bet they do come in handy up there, bugs too! I will throw this out there, "Quick detach". I do have that on my bike for windshields and the bags too if I ever saddle up and take off. I can pop them on or off in a minute or two.
This is a good question for me as well im looking to only get 14's carlinis but i want a detachable shield as well for the cold days. Can you bring it back towards you a little?
And i know what you mean about alaska rain i was stationed at Ft Rich from 07-10. I was terrified when i got my orders there, but i gotta tell ya i miss it and love it.. I can't eat salmon here anymore... and never eat it at resturants or sushi.
I run 16" gangsters and have a quick detach shield. What i did is when i installed the bars i put the shield on and rolled the bars as far forward as possible. Then i sat on the bike to check the feel and adjusted back a little. so i can run my shield any time if need with out worry.
Thanks Guys .
This is my first run with apes never had them before and was concerned what the bike would look like with the shield in place . I have to say the bikes that are posted with the shields on look really good .
I do like the idea of quick detach and will invest in a set . My bike is a 1992 and everything is bolt on solid . Having a shield on really helps with the rain and cold here in Alaska . Where I live the high temp for last summer was 69 .
