Hi all: I will be taking off my ratted out (thanks DOT 4 and HD) front master cylinder to have powder coated. I am sticking with the stock black or as close as the painter can get. I am considering changing out the brake line too. I have decided on the HD "Diamond" woven metal line. If I do this I will be changing the clutch cable too.
Do the upgraded brake lines give better feedback and increased braking force? What is your opinion on black vs. chrome lines? Thanks, Chris.
All of my cables (throttle, idle, front and rear brake and clutch) are HD Diamondback braided SS. The only gripe I have is that the clutch cable is only braided from the lever to the adjuster. From the adjuster to the tranny is just a black cover. IIRC, the Magnum clutch cable is braided all the way to the tranny.
Yes, the braided stainless lines do give better feedback. My opinion is the silver braid looks best. But I've been told my taste is somewhat questionable.

Had the HD Diamond braided clutch cable on my bike for years and never noticed that! Actually had to go out and check. Might be because mine is the black version. Would be more noticeable on the silver version.
First thing I've done on all the bikes I ever owned was swap out the original rubber brake lines for braided stainless ones. Apart from new callipers the best upgrade to improve feedback and braking power.
Yeah the magnum cables are all fully braided. I don't know if there was a performance increase but they def look a hell of a lot better. I went with the black pearl but with the clear cover that's over the braid, it turns it more of a dark gray.
I too would agree with the feedback being better. I also have the diamondback SS lines on my bike. A lot of the "Black" braided lines that I saw look brown out in the sun. Not sure why that is, but my dad wanted to go with the black braided until I pointed out the color to him.
