Save the coin and get the SS's.
You will be money ahead as when you do install the SS's your going to ask yourself "WHY DID I GO WITH THE 422's"

Drop the front 2" and it'll handle a whole lot better.

What is it you're after in handling? Stock softails will handle OK up to the point where they run out of cornering clearance, and start grounding hard parts. Not much point in going beyond that. Sure, they require a different driving technique than a lighter bike.
