I believe Harley started changing the size of the o2 sensors in 2010. I think the softails got the new ones in 2012 so i dont think you can go older than that. Im still new to harley's tho so not 100% sure but someone with more know how should chime in
If you go with an older system that would fit years up to 2011 you can get adaptors for the new size 2012 and up O2 sensors. You need a 18mm to 12mm bung adapter. You can get them here. http://wanaryd.com/bassani-xhaust-o-...ung-102p2.html

I'm using a set of V&H pipes from a 2000 Nighttrain on my 2010 Lo.
So yeah, like it's been mentioned..HD changed the size of the O2 sensors in 2012, so there's your limit.
Any pipes made for any TwinCam engine will fit your bike.. although you may have to use some small spacers for the mounting point on the frame.
So, again, like mentioned, you can get O2 sensor adapters to make yours fit.. or.. if you use a PCV, the direction say to remove and plug the O2 sensor ports.. so you won't run O2 sensors at all (downside of that, of course, is if you buy an Autotune, you won't be able to use it)
