How can you go wrong with either?

I know what you mean. I made a spread sheet to track how much money i've spent on this bike... I had to delete it because it started making me depressed

Almost as obvious as telling him, after the fact, that is would be cheaper to buy a Fatboy LO.

So the guy asks a question about parts swapping and I give him an answer that relates, on the other hand you tell him something that has no relevance at all, and I'm the douchebag? Riiiiiight.

GoDeacsWFU23, brettnbama is completely correct. You should use your time machine to go back in time and buy a Fatboy Lo, because that is clearly what you want. Forget the fact that there is quite a bit of difference other than the wheel width and fenders.

Yes the struts are wider as well as the fender, but they will bolt on as long as he has both. Also, the seat mounts differently, so he would need a fatboy seat, or do some modding to the fender and seat to get them to work together.

The guy has admitted that he is new to Harley's. he asked a similar line of questions. Generally when one of us starts looking for info on stuff like that it is because we are in the initial planning of some mods. My point to him was, without spelling out the laundry list of stuff to do it, it would have been cheaper to just get the lo if that is the look he liked. Because of his stepping into unfamiliar territory, I wasn't sure if he realized how costly it could be to basically change out the entire back end. So if that makes me a douchebag than whatever.
As for you I am not sure which makes you a bigger douchebag....whether it was the fact you spelled out "riiiight" like my 14 year old daughter does in text messages or if it is that you obviously have a little stash of cute pics that you are chomping at the bit to throw out there on someone like the CPT obvious banner you posted for me.

I think I did make a mistake of not going with the Fatboy Lo. The dealer did not have one on the showroom and had a Slim. I like it, but think I would prefer the Fatboy Lo to be able to have the wider rear tire and some hard bags on the side (similar to the street glide). I should have done more research before I purchased the Slim.

Hey bud. Went from a Dyna to a softail. I realized after i wanted a street glide. But, in order to make myself keep the slim i just started buying a lot of parts so i would not have a choice but to keep it lol.

If a fatboy lo is what you want trade your bike in on it. You will take a loss. Maybe trade for a 2012 model or a used with under 5,000 miles.
Keep the regular fatboy in your mind too.

I purchased a lot of parts for the Slim also. Exhaust, intake cone, led headlamp, primary cover, cam cover, some other cover where the clutch cable goes in at, reprogrammed the engine, mirrors, gas cap......I guess I could just find out how to swap out the rear ends and that way I wont have to get a new bike that sits higher (as this one sits good for me since I am not on the tall side). Oh well.....I have already checked the stock at local dealers and no one has a denim black Fatboy Lo in stock so I guess for now I will keep what I have (technically I have nothing now since it is getting a new clutch, sprocket, chain, chain tensioner and a whole bunch of other crap that was ruined when the dealership didn't put transmission fluid back in it).
