Default Wtf!!! UPDATE

I just took apart the front end to replace the cowbells and after I put it back together the engine light and the oil light stays on. I also notice that the trip button isnt responding. I'm thinking something came unplugged during the process but would like to know for sure. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Remove the dash and check all the connectors there. Also check the wiring that feeds the dash. It runs in front of the tank, and maybe got snagged or nicked while doing the front end. Check all your grounds as well. IIRC, the ground is the sensor positive for the oil light. If the ground is broken, the oil light will illuminate. Good luck, and be sure to post up when you solve it so that others may learn!

I finally had a break in the weather to see what was going on. Two wires came out of the connection block on the left hand side. I think this happened from taking this connector apart the last time I swapped handlebars, I must not have got them clicked in properly, so they slid out when the light was hanging.
