I had then narrow the front a bit, lower 1" and move me back 1" double memoey foam re pad and also had a tailbone relief channel cut in. Seems pretty comfortable but I have not had a chance for a good ride on it yet.

Thumbs up ride quality

Well I moved from a Road Glide to the Fatboy Lo and was ok with the ride. Washboard was not good though but it's not good on anybike I've rode. The counterbalanced engine is a wonderful thing; put Shotgun shocks on the back and the ride becomes a wonderful thing(wasn't that bad but SS makes good gooder); Race Tec gold valve emulators make the front better; and for me-I had to ditch the stock seat for one from Corbin. Your wifes weight and stature will dictate the mods needed but coming from a Nightster she'll be in heaven.

I love the ride on my 2012, even with the girlfriend on the back. I did upgrade my seat to a saddle man so I could have a back rest. The seat made long rides enjoyable.

Shotgun Shock on the rear, Ricor Intiminators in the forks, Ricor Vibranators in the bars, and a stock seat redone by a local upholstrey shop.

How the hell did you lower a LO?

A Shotgun Shock will lower a Lo quite a bit since it has 4" of travel. The onboard air compressor comes in very handy on the fly as well.

Stock Lo rides great....only thing I complained about when I got mine was the bars. Therefore, my Carlinis tops my mods for this reason.

I had a Nightster (2008). For one year. It was stock as far as supsension/shocks, etc. And while it was nimble, etc., etc, it was HORRIBLY uncomfortable in that it slammed into every hole, bump, whatever, that was anywhere around. I was nearly launched off the bike a few times, one in particular at 70 on the highway and hit ... SOMETHING ... a bump, a hole? I THINK it was a hole in the road.

I've had a couple bikes since. But specific to your question, my husband has a 2013 Fat Boy Lo and I have ridden it and can tell you it has a really nice ride, and will seem like a touring bike to your wife coming off a Nightster, even stock!!

Got my 2012 Fatboy Lo after a couple years riding a RK. I liked the RK, but it was...well, boring. Didn't like sitting up so straight, even with highway pegs. I love my FB Lo, I feel like it was custom fitted for me (5'10")...handles like a dream. Mine is bone stock right now, although I just got a MS batwing to install for longer rides ONLY. I've scraped the boards on turns that I never did w/ my RK...but I think it is because I feel more confident on the FB, and I'm taking them faster - and yeah, its a little lower. First time it startled me, but now I try to do it!!! Brakes are great (mine are nonABS) I love this bike.
