Default Spark plugs ??

Planning on changing the plugs on my 2011 Fatboy and was wondering what you use? I change the plugs every service so I'm thinking of using the Harley Gold plugs or do the Platinums make a difference worth the money?

with no disrespect..if your bike is tuned properly, there is no reason why you should be changing your plugs with every service..

and i use the screamin' eagle plugs. some people say there's a difference, but whether its my bike, my car, or my lawnmower..i've never seen a difference from just a plug.

My first set of stockers went for 18k, then had the 05 valve seal issue and replaced with a new set of stockers when it was repaired. Ran those for 25k plus, just swapped em out for a set of SE plugs. Not because they were bad, but because I was having some fuel and stalling issues and wanted to eliminate the simple stuff as the cause. Wasn't the plugs. You're throwing away money changing them at every service, but if it gives ya that warm fuzzy feeling by all means keep it up.

I would stick with Harley plugs of some kind. Why? They work. With air cooled motors, the temp rating of the plug makes a difference, and the resistance of the plug can also mess with the ECM & ignition to an extent. IMHO (and I'm not an engineer or even very smart for that matter) changing to an aftermarket 14 electrode paladium magnesium molybdenum coated super sparker mega watt spark plug isn't going to make any difference. Stockers or SE for me. Keep it simple.

I put in Screamin Eagle plugs and got a code. Replaced with the OEM and no codes. Save your money.

Love the description J! Too funny.
I use the NGK Iridiums. Seem to be ok. May try the SEs next time.

I've seen a lot of posters using NGK. I'm still using Harley plugs. I did install the SE version a few months after I did my stage one. No reason, just did, no difference. My old original stock plugs were a nice light brown, just the way they're supposed to be.

Thanks for the replies. I do plan on staying with HD plugs of one kind or another. Only reason I've been replacing them is because the manual says to inspect them every 5,000 miles and replace them at 20,000. If I pull them to inspect them their gasket washer has already been crushed so I just throw new ones in. They have looked fine so maybe I'll just call it quits on "inspecting" them every 5,000?

I just use the HD 6R12 plugs.
I've always had good luck with them.
They're only $3-$4 each at the dealer and I change them every 12-15k miles or so.

Total waste of money man.

I replaced my first set at 20k and they still looked okay.

I used HD Golds.
