Yup, used genuine H-D. Had installation instructions. I have never gotten anything from J&P that didn't have instructions, except tires. Now where and how do I mount them?

OK smart guy, where do you mount tires?
I'm still trying to figure that one out and don't tell me on the sissy bar.
I tried that and I even tried the handlebars, didn't matter it looked like crap.
So I tossed them in the back of my pickup.
They look right at home there with all the other odd car, truck, and bike parts.

A) its colder than a brass monkeys, you know whats. WAY too cold to even work on the bike in the garage.

B) All the big dogs left for Florida on the last flight out. Theyleft the little one behind and he would rathersteal the wife's underware over being a sled dog.

I put them on my fatty. Be careful not to tighten them too much because I cracked both passing lamp bulb lenses. they still work.... but they're cracked.[sm=laughat.gif]

To you guys that have the genuine HD rings. How much of a gap to you have at the clamp on the bottom of the passing lights? I have about 3/16" and I think it looks like crap. If the HD rings fit better I'm sending the these back to J&P with a note to shove them sideways.

There is around a 3/16' gap on the HD rings but there is a foam filler with a chrome covering on it to eliminate the appearance of the gap. they put a little thought into it. I suppose there needs to be a gap, But people like me tighten them down too tight and break their bulbs.

I have them too. I used patroleum jelly to hold the "O" rings in place. Took my time and only used a screwdriver to tighten the rings. I was able to mount the rings over the lenses before attaching them to the bike. Did the headlamp, passings/driving lights, turn signal, front and back in about 45 minutes.

Good luck, hope we were able to help.

I have then on all the lights on my 2004 Heritiage. All HD parts. There is a gap on the bottom and 3/16 sounds about right, although if I remember they were not all the same. As someone else said, there is some chrome foil-like stuff that bridges the gap so it's not so noticeable. If your aftermarket ones don't have the foil stuff, you could just stick some aluminum foil in there.
