Default Hydraulic clutch conversion

Looking at converting to Hydraulic clutch, but not really sure about whats needed,
What brought it about was that I saw one of these for sale...

Performance Machine 0066-2008-ch hydraulic clutch actuator

Would I be right in thinking that with this, all I need is a clutch mastercylinder and line and that's it! or am I missing something

Hey Lawnmowerman, I am getting this complete set up probably sometime around the end of this week or the 1st part of next week. I am going to all internal wiring when my 16" Gangsters get installed. I was told and it was recommended to me by a few mechanics and a few buddies that in order to do that you have to convert to Hydraulic set up. NONE of those mechanics or any of that information came from a Harley dealership so that they could tell me what they want me to hear and to just get in my pocket's. You need the reservoir lever and grip for the bars. Harley has 1 that matches my front brake reservoir so I'm good there. I don't have to buy that in order to have matching grips. You need a Hydraulic hose made to fit whatever kind of bars you have. You also need the tranny cover to accommodate the new Hydraulic clutch cable. I am sure they are a few other little pieces here and there and I will soon have a complete list for you, if you don't find out before I get back to you. I think I figured a ball park amount the other day when I was going over my parts list. It looks like it's going to run me anywhere from 500.00 to 700.00 bucks for everything when all is said and done. Also, if there is anything out there thats new that would make it possible for me to use my existing clutch setup, internal cable and all, I sure would like to here and know about it before I dump all this money on a new Hydraulic clutch kit. I surely DO NOT know it all, by any stretch of the imagination, so there are times I just have to have faith and trust in the people I talk to about certain mods. I want to do.

Been here.. First off just buy the harley hydro clutch kit if you have the 5 speed.. Think it is around $500 and comes with everything needed. If you want to internal run your line then just get the Russell 3/16" line kit and fittings. I tried to piece all if the push rod, throwout bearing, and master and slave cylinder and spent more money than if I would had just bought the complete kit from harley. Now if you have a 6 speed they do not offer that kit. Something about how the CVO bike clutches are different and use the hydro clutch. No more information on that. Sorry..

Hey Firman1501, what's been up? I have not forgotten you, I am still coming to you to have my fender's stretched. I will be looking for a good deal all this summer for fender's and then next winter get them off to you to have them done so I can then get my bike painted. If you run across a set of stock Deluxe fenders, a good deal, drop me a line and I will get the cash off to you, might even save on some shipping there. I don't want to use or ruin my stock tins, I just love this color combo so I will store these tins when it's time to go with the others and a new paint job. So, back to the Hydraulic clutch. I have an 06 Deluxe which was a 5 speed but I now have the SE 6 speed on my bike. I was sure, or think I was, that I seen a new tranny cover for the SE 6 speed Hydraulic set up to accommodate the hydraulic hose.. Are you saying with that, that I can't go to the Hydraulic set up or did I misunderstand your comment? There has to be a way or something I can use, wouldn't you think? How would guys with newer bikes run internal wires, if anyone has, with the new 6 speed bikes? I don't know, I'm just asking and I sure would like to know before I go dump that much money for nothing! I REALLY have this vision of my bike when it's done and a large part of that is going to be a really clean look, have everything inside the bars. I also would like more info on the dual throttle cable. As much as I want this, I don't want it if it's not going to be right, look good and most of all be 100% safe. I don't want a 500.00 PIA!!!

Thanks guys. I know where there's a cheap Performance machine cover, so from what been said here I only need to find a matching Harley chrome reservoir as I have a chrome brake res. And the suitable line? Is that correct? Nothing to go behind the cover? , if so I figure I can do this quite cheaply.

I looked at this conversion myself a few weeks ago, the main reason I wanted to go Hydraulic was to keep everything symmetrical looking on the bars

As the bike I had bought come with the six speed box I looked at what was fitted to the CVO but was told there was something different with the clutch actuator

regards
Rod

It just is not the external parts you need. You have to replace the push rod and bearing inside the tranny. Those are the parts that need to be found. I know you can get them for the 5 speed but not sure on the 6. I sure you have to buy the CVO clutch setup.. Harley making you spend a lot more money..

Fireman, I asked the seller and he said the PM item doesn't need anything else, I also went to the PM site and downloaded the fitting instructions, which seem to confirm this.
