Default Brake Pedal

Does anyone know if a brake pedal from a FL Softail will fit a FX Softail? I recently installed some aftermarket floorboards on my FXST and they made reaching the brake pedal difficult, but not impossible. Thanks in advance.

I don't believe brake pedals for an FL Softail will fit an FX Softail.

The reason I say this is that in all the collections (eg: Narrow band billet collection) the brake pedal for the FX is a different part number than the brake pedal for the FL's.

The difference is the size of the pedal. Typically the FX Softails require the small brake pedal and the FL Softails require the large brake pedal

This is from the 2013 HD Parts and Accessories Catalog

Narrow Band Billet Brake Pedal Pad

42623-00 Large. $49.95
Fits ’12-later Dyna FLD, ’86-later FL Softail and ’80-later Touring models.

42629-00 Small. $39.95

Fits ’84-later FX Softail models (except FXSTDSE) and
’93-later Dyna models equipped with forward controls.

Thanks Bone Doc. I should have been more specific. I meant the brake pedal lever from a FLST, not just the pad. I was hoping someone knew whether it would fit the FX without having to tear it apart and find out it doesn't fit. When I installed an extended lever on my FLSTC, I had to pull the front header, not to mention the clevis pin was a bitch to remove. I guess I will find out one day next week.

Well, according to the 2013 HD Parts and Accessories Catalog, there are no brake pedal levers that fit both FL and FX Softails. There are ones for just FX's and ones for FL's but that doesn't mean one wouldn't fit the other.

So, I can't give you a reliable answer. Good luck.

Definitely different part numbers. Just by holding the FL lever next to the lever on the bike now, they appear to be about the same size, except for the pad area. I don't see any reason the inside diameter of the bushing and the bolt to be different since everything else including the frame (part nbrs) are the same. I will update when I tear into it. Thanks for the input
