Default new battery needed

Need a new battery, mine gave up today, any advantage in a gel battery? or should I just go with a standard Lead acid?

I would suggest the AGM (advanced glass mat) which will not leak acid vapor when the battery heats up from charging and oil tank heat in the summer. Leaking acid will mess up your paint and pit chrome. I changed mine last spring with no problems.

I agree, if you can get a Deka, or Big Crank, at a decent price, get those.. they're the same battery that Harley has stock, but at a better price (same manufacturer). Yuaza batteries are pretty good too

Boy, this thread got me to thinking. I have not bought a bike battery in 12 years. I wonder what technology has passed me by there in those past few years. Good topic, now I'm wondering about the battery in my 06. It's still stock.

Still a stock battery after 7 years it's doing well...thanks for the replies guys, we can get AGM batteries over here I've been lookin at them they seem to vary in price from 40pound to 80. Do you think there's likely to be ant difference, they all seen to quote the same spec, ie...20%extra cranking power.. I don't normally do so but I'm leaning twds the cheaper end maybe a varta for 50 pound.. but my other question would be ...is there any point in me buying a battery with more power to supply the stereo in my batwing?.

Mmmm. what is 'Gel' Battery ?.. I know of Li-Iron batteries that are all the rage (more cranking, 10 pounds lighter, one third of the size, does not trickle charge and mmm.. 3 times as expensive).
