Congratulations and let the Mod's begin Dude! That baby is screaming to get dropped down and of course some chrome but thats coming from a chrome ***** so take that for what it's worth. Your 1st Harley? Have you ever rode before? Good luck, have fun, ride safe and keep an eye peeled for those dang cager's. ( OH ), Ditto on the rear fender and preferring something else, for me and my taste that is. I always liked lowered bikes, it's all I ever owned and those types of fenders tend to make the bike look way too tall for my preferences. That DOES NOT mean I don't like your bike because I do. It's just my .02 on the matter.
Yeah, don't get offended by negative input or opinions contrary to your own (you DID ask after all). If it looks great to you, that's all that matters...
2nd Harley. First was a wide glide. That bike was a lot of chrome. I am going mostly black on this bike but with some chrome. I know most people don't like the bobbed fender by I do. I am keeping my rear fender in case I want to switch back to the full fender.
I agree 100% Dude, it's YOUR BIKE, YOUR MONEY!!! I would also keep it or the other fender too. I never get rid of any old parts I replace or swap something, unless anybody I know is hurting and I have a part or something they would need or can use. You never know when you might need it. I also thought about the "chrome" remark I made after I sent it. I forgot you could or want to go blacked out with it.
I don't even like the fender on the xbone let alone on a fatboy. I like a curved rearend just like a woman. And now to make others hate me too. Apes are just as ugly to me as a whale tail.
All this means nothing it's your bike and your look. Never change your mind because of others. Enjoy your ride and be safe.
Man.. I LOVE the rear fender. Funny that you posted this today, because I was JUST thinking of doing the same thing with an XBones rear fender. I loved the bobbed fender. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it? Did you find it used?
One thing I've become a big believer in here: A dominate theme, whether it's color or style, looks great on the bike. With some accents - chrome or what have you- thrown in.
Or, you could just ride the freggin thing and forget the fashion show. haha.
I bought the fender on ebay used, it's good condition. Still has the crossbones pinstripe thing on it, so it looks kinda messed up with the rest of the bike having blue stripes. Not enough time this year to paint, that will be next winters project. I really liked this style fender on my wide glide and wanted to try it on the fatboy. The one bad thing is the way the bobtail luggage rack mounts on the license plate mount. on the WG it mounted to the end of the fender struts. I have a lot of things i would like to do to this bike and will never have enough money
