Yesterday I traded in my '12 denim black Street Bob for a new 2013 Heritage Softail Classic (vivid black).I did love the SB but after renting a HSC last week in Fla.there was no turning back.Prior to the SB I was riding a RKC.Loved the bags, windshield and floor boards. But after 6 years got a little board with it and wanted to try something a little lighter and spotier, especially since most of my riding is solo, local stuff, and the SB fit the bill. But have to admit I did start to miss the bags, ect, ect. And IMO the SB dont look good with all that stuff on it.
Anyway, started looking into a Fat Bob,but would have ended up with the same problem as the SB.Then looked into a Fat Boy.Loved it but did'nt want to load it up either. So after researching the HSC here for several months and riding one down in Fla.for several hundred miles,I pulled the trigger.Like everyone has said, the HSC does it all, stripped down.loaded up.local rides, touring (I'll be pulling off the back seat/sissy bar)
So long story long,I'm totally digging this bike.Glad to be part of the ST family and will get some pics.up as soon as I figure out how.
The HSC is an awesome bike. My choice would of been between it and the RKC had I been able to afford it. I bought my SuperGlide Custom and absolutely love it. Maybe the day will come that I want something else. The HSC would be in the running for sure.
Congrats on the flstc. I got mine towards the end of last year and have yet to take my first ride on it. I have taken multiple test rides on the heritage and I agree with everything you have said and that is why I picked the heritage. I think it says a lot about the heritage when a company with as much history as Harley has name it their heritage classic. It is the softails longest running model for good reason.
The first mod you need to do is install the Shotgun Shock air suspension system, there are several threads on this system in this forum, once installed you will NOT believe the ride.
I have been riding since 1958, and riding Harleys since 1975. I have owned almost every model Harley Davidson makes. I currently own a 2010 Heritage Classic. I think it is the best combination of around town cruiser and highway tourer. My two favorite Harleys that I have owned is the Heritage and a 1200 Roadster I had a few years back. Congrats on your new ride, I am sure you will enjoy it for many years.
