I just installed Sampson true-duals # S2-440's on my 2010 Heritage. I love the pipes but they are just a little to quiet for my liking. Does anyone know if the baffles can be removed from the pipes? It looks like there might be a spot weld holding them in along with the screw.
If they are the removable baffle units like I have, then once the tip is removed, just remove the set screw that holds the baffle in and slide it out the rear of the pipe and re-install the tip. If your tips are not removable, then I would think the bafflers aren't either without surgery....
Agree, did you buy the pipes with the removable tip's and baffle's? If you did then no problem. If you didn't, surgery is required. I have a set sitting here and once they are on it's going to my Dyno guy. In the process of him tuning my bike he will cut the baffles down for the best tune possible and that will also change the sound of them too.
Wow, that was a job!!! They do have the removable end caps. A friend said to spray the baffles up good with WD-40 or like and then pull them out.
Easier said than done. I had to clamp a vice grip to the baffle, then another vice grip clamped on to the other vice grip sideways and then beat the F out of them with a BFH till it was out.
Now it sounds like a stock car! Gonna have to play with cutting the baffle down piece by piece till I get the sound I'm looking for.
