I just had big city thunder baffles installed in my hooker troublemakers. My bike is a 07 custom that dynoed 100 hp w/o baffles. It was way too loud, and lots of poping on deceleration. IT now has a nice deep sound at low rpm,and roars
when you get on it.It sure feels like i am making more tq down low, you notice it when running 258 cams. They were really great to deal with. I got baffles next day and a nice t shirt too.I replaced the plugs, wires and intake and got all the fluids changed. harleys rule!
It would be cool if you could dyno with and without them. You may not see much difference in peak numbers, but I'd be curious how it affects the torque curve.
My buddy installed those in his V&H pipes. He talked to V&H on the phone and the guy told him the make more power than their baffles. Sound good. Nice growl on decel.
I've had them in 3 bikes ,always liked them and you can always pick them up used fairly. Cheap ,that reminds me I gotta post mine in the classified section lol
I really like mine. I do have a question for the rest of you guys. How far in did you install yours? I installed mine in the stock location on my Vance and Hines Big Shots Staggered which is about three inches or so from the end of the pipe. Big City recommends six inches for the best performance but I haven't had the time yet to pull my pipes so I can drill them for the right spot. I guess I'm basically asking if it really makes enough of a difference to be worth the effort of pulling the entire exhaust.
I was just wondering if anyone had any knowledge on FatBoy usmc EOD question about how critical the location of the baffle from the end of the pipe was.
I am looking at removing the factory baffle from my V&H ShortShots and getting the BCT QQs for my bike. Just wanted to know because if it isn't that big a deal i would just install in the existing baffle screw hole rather than drilling a new one.
I didn't mean anything bad or needing more positive reviews.
Yes you are right!
Placement is ~muy importante~.
6 inches from the back is right on.
Call up Jim Maybeck at BCT as it is his design and he can give you the information you require.
I had them on my softail and have nothing but praise for them.
Took away the "tinny" sound I had and gave me back the low end that I lost from running straight pipes.
