Default shotgun install without lift

I'm about to install my shotgun but all I have is just a regular bike lift, it only lifts the bike about 6-8inchs off the ground. How hard is this install with my type of lift or no lift at all? I don't have a shop anywhere close to me or a place to buy a good lift, thinks

After I broke the big bolts loose I used jack stands...my lift was in the way when I was installing the shock body.

Hey bro, just like Motown stated. You can use jack stands. Once you get the front and rear bolts loose everything else is a piece of cake. I just finished installing mine on my FatBoy. Also be careful where you put the lift or jack stands. You need the space where the shock body is to remove the shocks and to install the Shotgun. If you get in a bind, pm me and I will be glad to help...Good Luck...

Is there anyway to get anything under your front tire to lift just the front end?

The back wheel has to be off the ground, the back shock bolts are in the swingarm. You have to move the swingarm up to get the shock body in so be careful lifting up on the back wheel when you are on jack stands.

I might be able to block it up a bit and maybe take some weight off the front by hanging it from a beam in my garage with a set of chain falls, just have to get it sturdy, I'm offshore until friday so can't even look at it until then. Just trying to get ideas

Like turtle said, remove the rear wheel. That is how I did mine. Yes, you can do it with it on, but it is so much easier with it off. If you decide to take it off, remove the lower splash/debris guard also. It is going to make a world of difference. Good luck...

I found it easy enough to do just removing the splash guard and using a scissor jack to raise and lower the wheel and swingarm..........can't see how taking the wheel off would have made it any easier, and to my mind would have just added to the time involved.
