Hey forum, contemplating on installing aftermarket led turn signals front and rear on my 06 FatBoy. Will I need to install a load equalizer? If so, will I need one for front and one for the rear? Are they difficult to install? And lastly, where to install them out of sight? Thanks for any advice or help on this...Ray...
Give the folks at Custom Dynamics a call, they will steer you in the right direction and they offer a LIFETIME WARRANTY on their LEDS. They DO burn out.
Yes if you do both front and rear you will need an equalizer. You only need one. I don't remember what brand I have but I want to say badlands or somethin like that.

I have both front and rear led and I do not have a load equalizer - so once again, no you don't need one
Some newer bikes, newer than yours seem to be able to use LED's without the equalizer.
Probably because they came from the factory with electronic turn signal relays in them instead of the older thermal operated bi-metallic switches in them.
But older (pre 07?) bikes really should have an equalizer put in them to regulate the blink rate.
Just be careful where you put any of the resistor types as they can get very hot and will eventually cook any wires that are too close.
I believe that Badlands makes an electronic version that's not supposed to heat up as much.
The better ones, like the Badlands are also easy to install as they just plug into the existing line under the seat and don't require any cutting or splicing of the existing wires.
Like hoethree said, look Custom Dynamics up on line and if you have any questions, give them a call.
They have a very good customer service department and will be able to get you what you need/want.

What Midgard said.
I also have the run/turn/stop LEDs from Custom Dynamics. They told me I didn't NEED it and when I saw the mess of wires, I didn't want to bother with it.
The ONLY thing it does is makes the dash light blink faster than normal after 4-5 flashes. The lights don't blink fast, just the dash. Big deal!

Ya no ****. I know they will still flash. I ran mine that way for a short time before I put the equalizer on. But they do not flash at the original speed.
