Is a load equalizer needed?
OP asked if he NEEDED a load equalizer and the answer is no but you said yes.
What Midgard said.
I also have the run/turn/stop LEDs from Custom Dynamics. They told me I didn't NEED it and when I saw the mess of wires, I didn't want to bother with it.
The ONLY thing it does is makes the dash light blink faster than normal after 4-5 flashes. The lights don't blink fast, just the dash. Big deal!

My dash flashed faster at first trial, but they told me to cycle my four-ways for about a minute to "re-sync" everything, and they haven't done it since.
They now all flash at the same rate.
Harley has LED bullet turn signal kits in the catalog that do not require a resistor to blink properly.
P/N 67800060 & 67800061
Catalog says for '12 and later Dyna and '11 later Softails, I don't know what the difference is in earlier models.
I'm currently running LED replacement bulbs in my stock ('10) bullet housings (front and rear)
I had to install a resistor to get them to blink at the right speed.
