where to attach tie downs?
I read to never attach tie down straps to handlebars or saddlrbag guards. But where do you attach the tie downs? This is for a '94 Heritage that has the engine and saddlebag guards.

Wampuscat, Check out the link below. Some pretty good info on trailering a bike. Yeah, you gotta read the WHOLE thing.

Just looking from the pic of your bike,,, ifn them saddle bag guards are strong and mounted solid, looks like they would work ok.
I have seen mounting docks that bolt to trailer then clamps to bottem of frame, looks like they should work good but I have no first hand knowledge of them.
I just purchaced the Wheeldock front wheel chock system. havent tried it yet, but will post about it when I do under product reviews ( around the 1st of May07).

Hmmm...good question on the front. I tie around the fork leg and lower triple tree on my Deuce, but it doesn't look like that's an option for you. On the rear I hook to the swingarm (where you see it in your pic right behind the saddlebags) with the tiedown forward and outward at about 45 degree angles. I've read this was the property way to do, and found out the hard way that it is. I have the wide Pingel chock but have a 21" tire. Usually I lock the fork and it doesn't give problems, but one day coming home from NC I forgot to lock the fork and somewhere south of Atlanta the tire turned in the chock. By having the back tiedowns pulling forward, they pulled the bike into the chock and kept the bike upright even though the front ties were loose. I usually sit on the bike and tighten the rear tiedowns to slightly compress the rear shocks.
