Default Swingarm Bag SOLUTION!!! - No More Scratches!!!

First off, thanks to Shaun as www.sokustom.com for the great swingarm bag. Next, I noticed a lot of guys were complaining about the bags damaging the powdercoat on the swingarm. Well, since I didn't want to take a chance, I fabricated this mounting system to rigid mount the bag to my swing arm. Here are some pics, and I will post a "how to" later on.

I used a piece of diamond plate I had, picked up some 5/16" coupling nuts and some other hardware. I am very pleased with how it turned out.

Nicely done! That looks like a great solution, looks like the bag only comes out a couple of inches farther.

Yeah, the extra inch does not make a difference at all. Plus the plate gives the bag extra support and rigidity.

That is a nice idea. I bet you could mount that a little higher and clear true duals. One reason I have held off getting a swing arm bag but I bet this would work!

Thanks for sharing!!!!

Nice. If you want your bag even stiffer (LOL) you can get some thin aluminum to put inside of it as well and that will keep it perfect. Don't ask how I know. So that is in the belt guard holes?

I thought about doing a plate inside, but don't think it's necessary. Yeah, I mounted it in the belt guard holes. The front one was a normal 5/16x18 bolt that I screwed the coupling nut onto. The rear one was a little tricky. It didn't have a bolt sticking out, it actually is a threaded hole on the belt guard that a bolt goes into. So I sawed the head off a 5/16" bolt and screwed it into one end of the coupling nut with Red Loctite. Let it sit and then screw it in to the threaded hole. See pic below. The bolt on the left (bottom pic) is the original that come off the bike.
