Question Shotgun Shock Issues!

Alright guys needs some input from my fellow shotgun shock owners.

It seems to be i am having issues with my relay. Has anyone else had issue with the relay that came with the shock?

Also how or where did you mount your relay? My problem may be heat and or vibration related.

Back story, i have had the shock installed for 2 months now and everything had been working fine. Longest trip was maybe 90 miles round trip. Yesterday I went on a longer trip and about 50 miles in first issue occurred. I checked the relay and just kind of jiggled it and all was good. Continued on the trip and all was good for another 100 miles. Then had issues again. Was able to check the relay and it started working but was not by the time i got home. Went out this morning checked to see if it worked and it did for about ten seconds. Could not get to work after then i left for work.

I think heat and vibration because when it first started to stop working was after a 50 miles of hard fast riding on the freeway.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Is it just hanging? I cant remember if my relay is bolted or zip tied, but it is mounted.Did you check the connections? I would make sure the heat shrink is tight and the connectors didnt work apart. If you jiggle and it works,i would think its in the relay or harness

Hey Dude, just give JD a call. He will get you running, guaranteed even if it means shipping you new parts. JD has the best warranty and customer service of anyone I have ever used in my 40+ years of riding so take full advantage of that. I also agree, if it's not hanging up, if it's working on and off something is loose somewhere.

Hey Leech, sounds like it is in the harness or relay. Don't kill yourself man trying to figure it out. Before you do, just give the man himself (JD) a call. He will walk you through it or just send you the part you need. Good luck. Let us know how you made out...

Switch out your toggle switch....they go bad by working-not working.
Might try jiggling the switch while its pulled on.

As "tbonetony06" and "fatboy1729" have said just give JD a call and he will help you out.

So, is this a common issue?

I see lots of posts explaining how great the service is with these shocks, but there are also many product issues being reported. This leaves me wary.

Been eyeing one of these for my 2007 Train...

As previously stated, I'm glad to hear that JD is a stand up guy and cares about his customers however, I don't want to be wrenching on my bike all the time.

If its working intermittently when you jiggle it, I'd be leaning toward a loose connection or faulty relay.

Please keep us posted.

I haven't seen a lot of anything on here that someone or another has not had issues with sooner or later. I myself have been problem free right from the install, had it a year now. What does matter to me is how I am treated after the sale of a product. As far as that goes I have yet to see one single customer dissatisfied with the service they got after the sale from JD. It's unmatched.
